Sending specially formatted SMS for MS AUTD?04/01/2005 05:09 PM
I always thought there was something
special about Blackberry's that lets them do "push email" (instantaneous
reception of email on your Blackberry when it lands on your server's mailbox.
I'm surprised MS Windows Mobile devices also have a way to do this.
It's called Always Up To Date (AUTD). It seems to be part
of MS Exchange, although a Geekzone
article seems to imply that all
you have to do is send a proper SMS message to get your Windows Mobile
device to do an ActiveSync.
The next version of Windows
Mobile 2005 supposedly will support
true push email (doesn't kick off an ActiveSync).
Note to MS: why don't you guys
document how you're doing this instead of burying it inside MS Exchange?
Do you want to make your mobile devices more popular or what?!? I
just want my portable nav device to have more functionality
